Collegiate Internships
The Ohio Cattlemen's Association offers many internships for college students throughout the year. A scholarship will be awarded to each intern and the intern can earn credit while completing the internship. For more information regarding specific internships call the OCA office at 614.873.6736.
Summer - Public Relations Internship
The full-time public relations internship will provide the successful candidate with excellent experience in communications and promotions through the coordination of numerous events and activities. The successful candidate will help with the planning, coordination and execution of all displays during the Ohio State Fair; assist with the Young Cattlemen’s Conference and assist with other events and promotions. The internship will begin in mid-May and last until mid-August with flexibility based on course schedule. Application deadline is March 20.
*Winter - Industry Relations Intern
The primary responsibility of this intern will include assisting with the preparation and implementation of the Ohio Beef Expo’s Trade Show. This intern will also assist with communications of the Ohio Beef Expo including pre-event press releases, advertising and event photography. This position will assist with preparation of the Ohio Cattleman magazine and the OCA Annual Meeting & Banquet including developing award winners’ press releases. Application deadline is October 15.
*Winter - Member Services Intern
The Member Services Intern’s responsibilities will focus on coordinating OCA’s membership campaign and working with County Cattlemen’s organizations. This intern will assist with County Leader programs including membership updates and newsletters. Additionally, this position will help coordinate the Genetic Pathway and Membership Booth areas at the Ohio Beef Expo and will work with industry leaders to plan the Expo’s Educational Seminars. *Winter - Youth Activities Intern
This position will focus on assisting with coordinating the Ohio Beef Expo Junior Show including fundraising and show management. In addition the successful candidate will assist with the Beef Exhibitor Show Total (BEST) Program by attending shows and will help coordinate the program. This position will also help coordinate and execute the Leading the BEST Youth Leadership Conference. Application deadline is October 15.
*Winter - Beef Improvement Intern
The Beef Improvement Intern’s responsibilities will include assisting with Ohio Beef Expo’s breed shows and sales. This position will provide support for the OCA Seedstock Improvement Sales through catalog preparation and advertising. The successful candidate will also work with the OSU Extension Beef Team to execute advanced winter educational programs. Application deadline is October 15.
*The Winter Internships are all 20 hours per week and run January through the Ohio Beef Expo in Mid-March. Each successful winter intern will receive a $1,000 scholarship.
