Dean's Charity Steer Show

JULY 30, 2024 - 2 p.m.

Save the date for the 2022 Dean’s Charity Steer Show on Tuesday, July 30, 2024 at 2 p.m., during the Ohio State Fair. All proceeds from the show will benefit the Ronald McDonald House Charities (RMHC) of Central Ohio.

The inaugural 2019 event was hosted by Cathann A. Kress, vice president for agricultural administration and dean of The Ohio State University College of Food, Agricultural, and Environmental Sciences. It exceeded all expectations when $152,000 was raised for RMHC. More than 900 spectators attended the charity steer show, held at the Voinovich Livestock & Trade Center, and nearly 8,000 tuned in to watch via live stream on Facebook. Donation amounts ranged from 81 cents to $15,000.

“It is a wonderful event that celebrates agriculture and children, both our 4-H youth as well as youth who benefit from the amazing Ronald McDonald House Charities of Central Ohio,” Kress said. This year, Central Ohio celebrity exhibitors will  team up with media personalities and experienced 4-H youth and their steers to compete in the show for bragging rights and the four awards of Best Steer, Showmanship, Best Dressed and People’s Choice.

Following the show, an auction “sale” will take place in the show ring. No actual animals will trade hands. Instead, all bids and sale proceeds will be donated to RMHC.

The 2022 celebrities and 4-H families will be announced at a later date.
