Dean's Charity steer show

August 30, 2019 - 2:00 p.m.

Join us at the inaugural Dean's Charity Steer Show, July 30th at 2:00 p.m. in the Voinovich Building at the Ohio State Fair! We've partnered with Cathann A. Kress, Vice President for Agricultural Administration and Dean of the College of Food, Agricultural, and Environmental Sciences and Telhio Credit Union to coordinate and host the inaugural show. This event brings together our community to celebrate agriculture and support children and their families that rely on Ronald McDonald House Charities® of Central Ohio during difficult times. The show and sale will feature local celebrity exhibitors partnered with a 4-H member and their steer. All funds raised will benefit the RMHC of Central Ohio. You can make a donation and view the full list of celebrities participating in the event at give.osu.edu/deanscharitysteershow. Checks will be accepted both prior to the event and the day of the event. Please make checks payable to "The Ohio State University", memo line: #316593 and the celebrity's name. Mail checks to: OSU Foundation, Attn: Gifts Processing 1480 W Lane Avenue Columbus, OH 43221. Cash will only be accepted on the day of the event.

Awards will include best steer, showmanship and people’s choice. During the event, there will be a “sale” following the same procedures as a typical livestock sale, but without the actual transfer of livestock. Instead, all bids and sale proceeds will be donated to the RMHC.

Ohio Cattlemen's Foundation Challenge

The Ohio Cattlemen’s Foundation is challenging OCA’s county affiliates to help support this fundraiser by making a donation to the RMHC. As an incentive, the Foundation will match every county affiliate donation up to a maximum of $5,000. Any contribution amount is welcome for the good of the cause. County affiliate donations should be made payable to the Ohio Cattlemen’s Foundation and mailed to 10600 U.S. Highway 42, Marysville, Ohio 43040. The Foundation will total the contributions and write one check that includes its matching donation to the RMHC. Every county making a donation will be recognized in the Ohio Cattleman magazine.

The mission of RMHC is to create, find and support programs that directly improve the health and well-being of children and their families. Located across the street from Nationwide Children’s Hospital in Columbus, the Ronald McDonald House serves as a home-away-from-home for families while a child is hospitalized. More than 4,500 families use the facility each year with 82,000 nights of lodging provided. It is also the largest Ronald McDonald House in the world with 137 guest rooms and 120,000 square feet of kitchens, dining areas, play rooms, laundry facilities, a meditation room, exercise room, and informal gathering areas.
