2023-2024 CHARACTER TRAIT NOMINATIONS

DUE APRIL 1

The Ohio Cattlemen's Association (OCA) and Weaver Leather Livestock have teamed up to recognize exceptional leaders, no matter their age. Any OCA member or BEST participant or their parents may nominate other cattlemen, breeders, and exhibitors for any of the Character Traits to be awarded at the end of the year awards banquet in May. 

Character Trait nominations for the 2023-2024 season will open at the beginning of the first BEST show and close on April 1. Nominations will be evaluated by a committee and awarded during the BEST program awards banquet on May 4, 2024.

OCA is dedicated to leadership development for the next generation of Ohio's beef industry. Through the association's, youth programs, OCA is committed to creating the next generation of leaders, providing opportunity, scholarships, and support through youth livestock events and programs. 

Weaver Leather Livestock is dedicated to not only the success of young showmen, but cultivating an atmosphere of character. The Strategies for Success program is derived from Lodestar Guidance: Principles to Live and Lead, a program developed by Weaver Leather's President and CEO, Paul Weaver. Weaver Leather Livestock is committed to the value of leadership and the importance of developing tomorrow's leaders. We believe these young showmen are our future and represent these principles.

Passion - Intense, powerful or compelling emotions and commitment

Motivation - Internal eagerness to act and attain goals

Determination - Working intently to accomplish goals regardless of opposition

Respect - Showing esteem and appreciation
